Everyone wants to be successful…
We all dream of having a lot of money and living a life full of abundance where you can buy anything you want and visit anyplace you like. It is, however, important to note that most people want to be successful but very few are willing to do whatever it takes to be successful.
“It is a fact that successful people have information most people don’t have”
Many successful people have admitted openly that knowledge is power. You can’t be successful in life if you don’t have the right information. Although hard work, consistency, and focus are also among the key ingredients of success, according to many successful people, the most important ingredient to start with is knowledge.
It is a fact that successful people have information most people don’t have. This is one of the main reasons why most people struggle financially. In this article, we will focus on the things successful people do differently because they have information most of us don’t have. Below are 10 things successful people do differently.
10. THEY SET SPECIFIC GOALS
This is one of the main things the rich do differently from the rest of us. Successful people understand the importance of setting specific goals. Instead of setting goals like; I want to lose weight, successful people will set specific goals stating the exact weight they wish to lose i.e. 5 pounds a week. Specific goals are more powerful simply because they help you stay focused and motivated.
9. THEY SEIZE THE MOMENT
Successful people also avoid procrastination at all costs. They understand the importance of seizing the moment. They know that achieving goals depends on how fast you are able to grab opportunities. They don’t postpone tasks that should be done immediately. If you want to be successful in life, you must do what has to be done when it has to be done even if it means creating time.
8. THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY SHOULD DO TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS
Successful people understand the need to monitor progress. They understand that it is impossible to know how well you are doing if you don’t analyze your progress honestly and regularly. Successful people constantly analyze their progress to see how they can adjust their strategies and behaviors to meet their goals. They understand insanity to the core and take full responsibility for their actions. Instead of blaming others and fate, they will analyze their current position to find ways of modifying their behaviors and strategies to help them achieve their goals.
7. THEY ARE REALISTIC OPTIMISTS
Most successful people will admit that optimism plays a very big role in becoming successful in life. What they might not tell you is that you have to be a realistic optimist i.e. think positive about achieving your goals but work extremely hard instead of relying on hope, fate, and luck. Successful people don’t underestimate the challenges that come between them and their goals. They will focus on what works and leave out what doesn’t after careful analysis.
6. THEY FOCUS ON GETTING BETTER AS OPPOSED TO BEING GOOD
Most people believe that personality, intelligence, and physical aptitude are fixed. This isn’t the case with successful people. Successful people are more focused and interested in improving themselves as opposed to being good. This explains why most ordinary people focus on goals intended at proving themselves as opposed to developing or acquiring new skills. Successful people know that there is nothing like fixed ability. You can develop or acquire new skills anytime if you wanted. Once you understand this, you won’t stop until you achieve your goals
5. THEY DISPLAY TRUE GRIT
According to numerous studies, gritty people tend to be more successful in all aspects of life i.e. they get more education as well as higher grades in school. True grit is simply displaying strength of character. It is a fact that most people have weak characters and most people are not courageous, determined or tough. This explains why most people aren’t successful. Successful people have the strongest characters which makes them unique in everything they do i.e. they will do everything with courage and resolve.
4. THEY BUILD THEIR WILLPOWER
Like any other muscles in the body, the will power ”muscles” need to be built for a person to achieve their life goals. Successful people understand the importance of building their willpower ”muscle”. This enables them to have extra-ordinary self-control which lacks in most people. Successful people know that the path to success is full of hurdles. They therefore train their minds and bodies to take on challenges they wouldn’t honestly consider doing. Building willpower is all about being consistent enough to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals. Successful people understand this on an intuitive level which is why they are successful. They understand that doing what you don’t want to do like working hard is very difficult but extremely rewarding at the same time.
3. THEY DON’T TEMPT FATE
In everything successful people do, they know how to make their goals achievable. This is simply because they know that willpower is limited. They therefore avoid at all costs things that will make their goals harder to achieve i.e. being lazy or procrastination which are things that tempt fate. Instead, successful people will pick challenges carefully. They will also make sure they don’t run out of steam.
2. THEY FOCUS ON WHAT THEY CAN DO INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON WHAT THEY CAN’T DO
This is another important activity that makes people successful. Unlike regular people, successful people focus more on the things they can do. They understand how the mind works i.e. it makes what we think about important even if in real sense those things aren’t important. For instance, instead of focusing on misfortunes you can’t change, you should focus on what you can do to improve your situation.
1. THEIR DAY STARTS AT 5AM
This quality tops the list of the most important things successful people do differently from other people. It is important to note that most successful people start their day early and wake up between 4 and 7 am.
Retired Navy Seal and Podcaster, Jocko Willink, rises at 4.30am every morning and takes a snapshot of his watch and posts to Instagram for motivation and daily accountability.
Waking up early is important because it gives you more time to do whatever you have to do in order to achieve your goals. Your brain is also more active in the morning. If you wake up late like most people, you will most probably end up broke like most people.
This week, choose a day to rise at 5am.
See how productive you are. You’ll be amazed how much work you get done by 12 noon!
